A quickie in-between post today; I just wanted to make sure you all got the chance to enter this giveaway from the lovely Kimberley of Kimberley’s Beauty Blog! She’s giving away some fantastic prizes within this Macadamia Travel Set, including a jumbo size of their Deep Repair Masque. If you haven’t heard of it you’ve been living under a rock for most of your life. No need to thank me for letting you know, but unless you’re Patrick Star, you should seriously consider re-vamping your housing situation… I jest. It is, however, an amazing balm to soothe dry, damaged hairs. On your scalp. Shocking, I know, but having tried it a few times before, I can honestly tell you it does wonders. The drawback? It’s some pricey hair balm. Which is why I wanted to make sure you all had the chance to enter the giveaway, which is currently in its last leg and ending soon, as Kimberley runs an amazing blog and is giving away some great prizes! You can enter here.
I’m sure we’ve all heard our share about how incredible Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliners are, since the beauty world has hyped them up to the point of no return. I’ve tried sample sizes of the pencils before, and even then was completely blown away by how amazingly they get the job of defining them eyeballs (and lashes, of course) all too well. Even on my beyond-oily eyelids, once these set, they don’t budge ever. So naturally when I heard there was a set out for the holidays including not one, but eight full-sized pencils, I was a woman obsessed with getting my mitts on this year’s version of the “Ocho Loco.” The set includes three shades from the permanent collection (Perversion, Roach, and Deep End), and five that are new and exclusive (Mars, Ultraviolet, Tornado, Crave, Twice Baked).
Roach is a shimmering reddish copper.
Twice Baked is a medium bronze. It’s lighter than Roach, and less warm-toned.
Crave is a dark mate chocolate brown.
Perversion is UD’s classic matte jet-black shade.
Mars is a bold, shimmering green.
Deep End is a stunning aquamarine/teal.
Ultraviolet is a deep blue with noticeable shimmer. This one has quite a purple tone to it.
Tornado is a blackened, shimmery purple. It’s quite dark, and looks like a glistening black in some lighting.
Overall, I’m completely in love with this set. I was skeptical about a few of the brights, but I think they’ll be great for simple statement looks worn alone with mascara for summer. Ultraviolet in particular is beyond gorgeous on its own as a bold take on a cat eye, and Deep End is stunning on the waterline to thrown in a pop of color. While there are a few bright shades, I think the set is totally wearable on the whole with all the neutrals and a great way to get your hands on a lot of shades for a great price. It retails for just $59; if each pencil was bought alone, it would set you back a whopping $160, so it really is an amazing value. It also includes their Grindhouse pencil sharpener which is amazing, and worth $10 alone. Plus, you get the lime green exclusive one, which kind of makes the whole thing totally worth it. It is limited edition but still available at Ulta.com here and the Urban Decay website here. All the eyeliner you could ever need (for the next two months), simples.
Happy New Year everyone! I’ve got quite a few begginning-of-the-year-themed posts lined up, but I wanted to share the manicure and eye look I sported last night with all of you. I didn’t go crazy with the nail art this time; just simple, black cherry/wine colored tips for the evening with a bit of sparkle. Butter London’s La Moss (can you tell it’s Kate-inspired?) is my go-to deep burgundy shade for this time of year; smooth formula and stunning in two thin coats. I added a little sparkle to the mix with another Butter shade, West End Wonderland on the accent nail and I was good to go in under ten minutes. Eyes were kept simple, an itsy-bitsy kitten flick courtesy of Mrs. Bobbi Brown and my gel liner of choice, Black Ink, with lashings of mascara. Apologies for not taking a better photo of the makeup; we had company and I was in a rush to snap some photos and go. End of the year eyes and tips, simples.
What did you sport on your eyes and nails for NYE? Let me know in the comments below!
With this being the year I got into both reading blogs and running my own site, I wanted to give a nod to the ones that both inspired me to start my blog and those that I’ve enjoyed reading all year long.
I adore Shree’s blog; she always keeps her reviews detailed, but still very to the point. A lot of blogs I read usually don’t include any lifestyle/personal bits, so I love how refreshing it is that even though she stays true to chatting about beauty, she gives her readers peeks into her own life and updates us about what’s going on. Plus, I’m a sucker for pretty blogs, and her new layout is seriously gorgeous. Love.
My first ever comment from a reader on one of my posts came from this lovely pair of bloggers, Julie and Ashley. Besides being two of the sweetest people, they keep the reviews coming and I seem to always end up ogling the products on their blog. I don’t tend to see many tips/tricks posts around the blogosphere, so I love that they’ll do series of quick bits about new ways to use the products you’ve got.
I’ve been reading Kallie’s blog for a while now, and I actually just saw that she reached a thousand Bloglovin’ followers, which is huge, so congratulations to her! First off, she’s seriously gorgeous, and I love watching her on youtube as well (you can check out her channel here). She gives great reviews for products, and I love reading her Sunday Inspiration posts as well.
I started reading Ana’s blog a few months back after seeing her Face of The Day post (here) and I remember noticing how absolutely stunning she is. I read a few of her older reviews and loved her style as well, and from there I was hooked. I love the way her blog looks (sensing a pattern here?), and her reviews are honest and concise, with some gorgeous photography thrown in.
Since discovering Hanh’s blog a little while ago, I always do that thing when a post of hers pops up on my bloglovin’ reader where I drop everything to read. She has lovely taste, and her blogging style reminds me a lot of Kate’s from ghostparties., one of my favorite blogs. I love good photos when flipping through blogs, and hers are no exception, always sharp and stunning.
Giada’s been a pretty constant reader of my blog, which always makes me happy; I love knowing that people out there actually care about what I write. Her own blog is fabulous; great photos, reviews, the whole nine yards, very reminiscent to me of Vivianna Does Makeup. Lovely read.
There you have it! My most-read blogs of 2013, simples.
